Shalom -“He who finds a friend, finds a treasure”

Discovering Congregation Or Shalom is like finding a wonderful treasure — the synagogue has become the core of the ever-growing Jewish community of the western Main Line.

The congregation is made up of people of all ages — singles, newly married, inter-faith couples, families with young children and teens to empty-nesters and senior citizens.

The conservative congregation, founded in 1972, has grown incredibly in four decades along with the ever-booming population of Exton, Malvern, Paoli, Chesterbrook, Wayne, Newtown Square and the small towns along the Main Line.

Or Shalom is dedicated to providing a center of Jewish education for our children and continuing spiritual enrichment for ourselves.

We are active in social justice projects that enhance communal life and we share the joys of holidays and special occasions and support each other when comfort is needed.

Our newest members have an overwhelming pride and enthusiasm about Or Shalom. Stop by on Friday night when our Hebrew school classes lead services once a month or poke around our Gift Shop for a Judaica item.

Getting involved with the Men’s Club, Sisterhood, Social Action, USY or enjoying our zany Purim Carnival is the easiest way to appreciate our heimish ways.

Or Shalom Religious School

Our Hebrew school is open to members ages 5 (K) to 13 (7th grade) under the guidance of our Education Director Na’ama Yarden. The children will tell you that Hebrew School is not boring with assemblies, sing-a-longs and field trips that foster an appreciation and understanding of their Jewish heritage.

The school and its talented teachers promote pride in Jewish identity, Jewish values and the Jewish people; create a love for God, home, and community; foster an interest in and connection with Israel and instill a commitment to  synagogue, study, prayer and mitzvot.
